The Alps are our mountains. One of the habitats of our continent where the nature is more impressive and also wild. The people living in this environment North and South of the Alps have developed some similar social activities and traditions to adapt to the environment. These hardy people maintain a rural lifestyle often isolated and not affected by the fast changing social evolution.
In many places tourism has affected this condition altering, to some extent, the tradition and environment. Luckily there remain some small natural oasis where the lifestyle is almost like it was 100 years ago. Where the work of the people is integrated with the environment and the houses and villages are born from the stone and the wood in traditions thousands of years old.

Rassa is one of these privaliged oasis: a few minutes in the car away from the main valley of Valsesia and it is as if you have stepped back in time. Breathing in pure mountain air and reviving a slow, harmonic life. Slow like the tourquoise water passing under the bridges, slow like the melting of the snow in springtime leaving space for the thousands of different varieties of flowers to colour the life. Slow like the amazing vision of the changing colours of the autumn before the hibernation of winter.

Sitting on the terrace of Locanda Margherita I can close my eyes and listen to the river. In this relaxing place I am able to imagine the lives of the people living in the many mountain villages years ago the echo of their voices carried down by the river running endlessly.
History and legend says Margherita and Fra Dolcino played an important role in the valley by escaping the injustice and oppression of the Church. For them and many others who sacrificed their lives for a cause worth fighting for. Margherita at that time was not only one of the more beautiful flowers in the land but also became the symbol for a freedom so difficult to reach.
It is said that Margherita is still present in the valley as a free spirit helping to keep away oppression. It was and it remains a symbol of freedom.

Locanda Margherita Bed & Breakfast gives you the possibility to stay in a remote corner of the Alps, breathing the pure air, immersed in an atmosphere that you would have found years ago and remains unchanged today.
